- Elvis stuff you might not have knownThe Huey Lewis' band Clover backed Costello on his first album - The band playing with Costello on his first album, "My Aim Is True," in 1977, was not The Attractions. It was the West Coast band Clover, a roots/country outfit living in England that would later become Huey Lewis and The News. Clover was talented and tight, and Costello worked well with them. However, there never were any real conversations about the possibility of Clover continuing to work with Costello going forward. The chemistry was good, but it was clear that Costello wanted and needed a more raw and energetic sound. That is when he began putting together The Attractions.
